Collection: South African SWAPOL Koevoet CAMO

The SWAPOL Koevoet CAMO is inspired by the camouflage pattern worn by Koevoet, the counterinsurgency unit of the South West African Police (SWAPOL) during the South African Border War (1966–1989). Operating in South West Africa (now Namibia), Koevoet was a highly mobile paramilitary police force specializing in tracking and engaging SWAPO guerrilla fighters. Their camouflage was distinct from the standard SADF Nutria Brown, featuring a disruptive mix of green, brown, and tan, designed for superior concealment in Namibia’s arid bushveld and rocky terrain. This pattern allowed Koevoet operators to blend effectively while conducting bush warfare and ambush operations. Though Koevoet was disbanded after Namibia’s independence in 1990, its tactics and camouflage remain historically significant. The SWAPOL Koevoet CAMO available through CAMO HQ is inspired by this battle-tested pattern, preserving its rugged and tactical aesthetic while adapting it for commercial and non-military applications.
