Collection: Portuguese Lizard Vertical CAMO

The Portuguese Lizard Vertical CAMO is a distinctive camouflage pattern used by the Portuguese Armed Forces, particularly during the mid-to-late 20th century. Derived from the French TAP47 Lizard pattern, the Portuguese version features vertically oriented brushstroke patterns in shades of green, and brown, optimized for concealment in Portugal’s woodlands, mountains, and overseas territories. This pattern became iconic during Portugal’s colonial wars in Africa (1961–1974), where it was worn by Portuguese troops in Angola, Mozambique, and Guinea-Bissau. Unlike most Lizard camouflage variants, which traditionally feature horizontal streaks, the Portuguese adaptation retained a more vertical alignment, making it unique among lizard-patterned camos. While it has since been replaced by more modern digital patterns in Portugal, variations of Lizard camouflage continue to be worn in some former Portuguese colonies. The Portuguese Lizard Vertical CAMO available through CAMO HQ is inspired by this historical design, preserving its classic aesthetic while refining it for contemporary tactical and outdoor applications.
