Collection: American Digital Dual-Tex Woodland CAMO

The American Duel-Tex Woodland CAMO is inspired by an early digital camouflage prototype developed by the U.S. Army in the late 1970s and early 1980s as part of a research initiative to improve concealment in woodland environments. Duel-Tex, one of the first attempts at computer-generated camouflage, featured pixelated clusters of green, brown, black, and tan, designed to disrupt the soldier’s outline more effectively than traditional analog patterns. While it was never officially adopted, it served as a foundation for later digital camouflage designs, influencing the development of CADPAT (Canadian Disruptive Pattern) and MARPAT (Marine Pattern), which became widely used by U.S. and allied forces in the early 2000s. Duel-Tex was primarily tested within the United States, but its pioneering pixelated approach laid the groundwork for modern digital camouflage concepts worldwide. The American Duel-Tex Woodland CAMO available through CAMO HQ is inspired by this innovative yet underutilized pattern, preserving its historical significance while adapting it for commercial and non-military applications.
